‘Abbott Elementary’ EPs Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker Sign With UTA

The writing and producing duo of Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker has signed with UTA for representation in all areas.

Halpern and Schumacker serve as executive producers and co-showrunners, alongside series creator Quinta Brunson, of the ABC comedy "Abbott Elementary." The series is scheduled to air its sixth season during the 2026-27 television season. The show won the Golden Globe for best comedy series in 2023 and has received nominations for the best comedy Emmy in each of its first four seasons.

Under their overall deal at Warner Bros. TV with their company, Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions, the pair has several projects in development. They are showrunning and executive producing Netflix’s forthcoming comedy series "I Suck at Girls," which is based on Halpern's nonfiction book and stars Kayo Martin, Jeremy Ray Taylor, and Laila Pruitt. They are also developing "Backhanded," a comedy at HBO Max, alongside writer Ali Waller. Additionally, Halpern and Schumacker are attached to write and direct a feature film adaptation of Halpern’s debut novel, "Get Lost," which is set to be published in July.

Their previous credits include the DC animated series "Harley Quinn" and its spinoff, "Kite Man: Hell Yeah!," on HBO Max. They also worked on CBS’ "S#*! My Dad Says," which was based on Halpern’s book, NBC’s superhero comedy "Powerless," and Fox’s "Surviving Jack."

Halpern and Schumacker continue to be represented by Adventure Media and attorney Allison Binder at Goodman Genow.
